Main Street Reopens

City officials and representatives of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce joined dozens of Downtown Jonesboro officials, business owners and local residents for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the reopening of Main Street on May 13. Traffic on Main Street had been diverted since September after a bulge was discovered on the exterior of the former Citizens Bank building at Main Street and Washington Avenue. The Jonesboro City Council unanimously voted to condemn the structure in December after structural engineers determined the 70-year-old building to be unsafe. Nabholz Construction was hired by the city to demolish the building.
