Building Stone Concepts & Brick

In 2015, Marty and Karen Hesch decided to exclusively carry a line of manufactured stone that could be used in residential and commercial development projects. Today, the couple’s business, Stone Concepts & Brick, is gearing up to move to a larger location and is now an authorized dealer for more than 20 national manufacturers in the masonry industry.

“We first partnered with one brand, Centurion Stone of Nashville, Tenn., becoming Northeast Arkansas’ first and only authorized Centurion Stone dealer,” said Marty, a second-generation builder who also owns and operates Hesch Construction LLC. “Somewhere along the line, we began adding more.

We hired Blake Burns in March of 2016 to be the general manager and lead salesman. Blake brought a new vision for the business plan that Karen and I mapped out earlier, and with his vision, growth was inevitable. Blake and I began to reach out to other well-known manufacturers in the masonry supply business and established relationships with new vendors, including several brick lines; hence, Stone Concepts & Brick was born.”

Stone Concepts & Brick is now a full masonry supply retail outlet and carries FireRock’s indoor and outdoor fireplace kits and accessories; Bentley Steel; Vestal Manufacturing; Master Wall; Bilco Brick; Ragland Brick; Binza Brick; Brampton Brick, Crossroads and Hoosier Series; Meridian Brick, Gleason, Insignia and Bessemer Collections; Boral Stone; Centurion Stone; Dutch Quality Stone; Eldorado Stone; Oaks Landscaping Products; Natural Stone; Stoneworks; Table Rock Stone; and Holcim Mortar.

“We are working hard right now to reach out and let people know that we have picked up so many new product lines and options to choose from, many of which are on display at our indoor and outdoor showrooms,” said Marty. “There was a demand for us to offer manufactured stone, as well as natural stone, so now we carry both. That all culminated when we decided to take on brick. We made the choice to be a total masonry supply retail outlet, and our customers have been very happy about that.

Stone Concepts & Brick’s supplies and products can be used in a wide range of projects, from residential to commercial. To date, Stone Concepts’ products have been used in a hotel, a nursing home, homes, fireplaces, fire pits, retaining walls and more. Some of the most well-known buildings around Jonesboro that feature the masonry supplier are Burger King, Dairy Queen, Ridgecrest Nursing Home, Colton’s, Gearhead at The Mall at Turtle Creek and many more. Many builders also use Stone Concepts & Brick for their speculative (spec) homes.
Marty says that due to continued grow and in order to offer a more convenient shopping experience for their customers, Stone Concepts & Brick is in the process of opening a new showroom at 2727 South Caraway Road.

“We have been well received in what is a very competitive market,” said Marty. “Because I have been a contractor for so long, I really understand how important timeframes and budgets are for our customers. Also, Blake has been integral to our success through his understanding of customers’ needs and developing a relationship with them based on their individual needs.”

Burns, the business’ general sales manager, and Lindsay Erwin, the office manager and logistics coordinator, work closely with Marty and Karen on everything from design ideas for customers to coordinating another one of Stone Concepts’ unique offerings – same-day brick and stone.

“One of the things we have tried to bring to the market is that we carry some of the more popular options in-stock,” said Karen.

“We have established relationships with some of our lines so that we can have stock here in Jonesboro,” added Marty. “For many options, we can get you product that day. That’s rare in this business.”

The couple enjoys being able to grow Stone Concepts as a family. Marty says that having the ability to work together as a family allows them to capture little moments of time together that other families struggle to find during their busy day.

“From a mother’s standpoint, I really appreciate how Stone Concepts & Brick will provide our kids with future opportunities to become involved in the family business, as well,” said Karen.
